— haeron is extremely breathtaking, otherworldly attractive, really. this is a common characteristic to everyone of his species, there is not something that he can just turn off, it’s what he is. humans and other supernatural creatures alike are extremely drawn to him, to the point that it’s not unheard of people going through extreme measures to get closer to him or receiving his attention, the latter can be rather addictive.
— haeron is the first male born of his species, whose supernatural nature manifested, in centuries. for that to have happened, meant his father carried a dormant gene, for the great majority of his species are women. he is a rare oddity, even in the legends about his species, only women are mentioned, and they have been often mislabelled as sirens or mistaken for other creatures.
— despite the hangul of his last name being ”태” and the usual romanisation for it being “tae”. haeron and the other descendants from the balhae royal family (which account for 20% of the people with this last name) romanise their names as “tai” instead.
— it is tradition for the tai family to give the first born male sons a single syllable first name. his name was intended to be tai ron. however, when his mother first looked at him and realised he had inherited her supernatural side, she pleaded with her husband to also honour the hae family, as he was the first male born in generations. thus, his name became tai haeron.

a dark priest, who betrayed the will of the heavens, disguise himself as a vendor and tricked a young boy into buying a few seeds, without knowing they are actually divine pills, able to elevate someone into a divine status. after ingesting the pills, the boy did not feel hungry for an entire week, and as he returns to the sea market to inquire with the vendor about the seeds. the ventor could only laugh at the youngster’s naivety, emptying the contents of the boy’s bag into the sea.
the waves had carried the seeds deep into the ocean, wherein a great white snake who longed for eternal power and the ability to thread between humans unnoticed reigned. she swallowed the pills, and earned herself 5000 years worth of magical ability, managing to transform herself into the most otherworldly gorgeous woman to have ever crossed the sea and the land. she feels grateful for the young boy, and their fates are then intertwined.
she utilised her beauty to entice fisherman into the depths of the sea, where she devoured them whole, absorbing their life energy to continue to nourish her magic. in the same ocean resided a black dragon, who was extremely jealous of the white snake for having consumed all of the pills, for he also longed for great power, and intended to use it for destruction. secretly, the black dragon started to attack humans, travelling further and further away to build his own magic.
in the meanwhile, the white snake observed as one fisherman collected a green snake from his line, he intended to skin the snake to sell it to rich foreign merchants. feeling pity for the poor snake, the white snake transformed herself into a gorgeous women and decided to use her own gold to buy the green snake from the fisherman. the white snake adopted the green snake has her sister, teaching her all she knew, and even allowing the green snake to eat some of the divine pills to become stronger.
eighteen years later, the white and the green snakes transformed themselves into beautiful women to attend the local festival, deciding to abandon their live at sea to conquer the humans. going by the names hae soonryung and jaryung respectively, the white and the green snake blended well with society, setting up their own medical practice. at the festival, hae soonryung and the boy, now a man, met and eventually fell in love.
however, the black dragon managed to save enough energy to transform himself into a human as well, taking the place of the dark priest, he tricked soonryung’s husband to give her a brew made of a jujak’s blood, which would cancel the powers soonryung gained from the pill. her husband indeed fed her the drink and she transformed back into a great white snake, killing the poor human who was unfortunate enough to gaze at her real form.
swearing revenge, the white snake and jaryung went on a quest to find the black dragon’s temple and steal herbs that would revive soonryung’s husband. both the white snake and jaryung managed to defeat the black dragon, but as a last action, the black dragon flooded his temple; killing the entire village and destroying all the herbs in the process. the white snake was distraught at the thought of never apologising for her soulmate for keeping the horrid secret from him, as a thank you for defeating the black dragon, the dragons took pity on the white snake and transformed her back into the beautiful woman. a few months later, soonryung discovered herself pregnant, and her son, hae jiryung, was the founder of the hae clan, eventually marrying the jaryung, the green snake.

▌ASSISTANT (0/1): following haeron’s reclusiveness, he felt the need to contract an assistant, someone who would be his main communication with the outside world, who would run a few errands, like take his manuscripts to the publisher and help him keep track of doctor’s appointment. and probably thinks haeron’s office is haunted as they can swear they saw the portraits blink.
